One of the great exercises at the training of Syntone program is a gift to each other of pictures of happiness and pictures of love. Participants usually do not immediately understand what the difference is between them.
.. You leave the dark entrance, and the sun is shining in the street, the buds are swelling, and the smell of spring is in the air.
... Or - you lie on a sandy beach, hear the sound of the sea, and your skin is blown into a pleasant, slightly cool breeze...
Question - are these pictures about happiness or about love?
And if you are waiting for a loved one, prepare him his favorite dish and set it on the table so that he understands that this evening is dedicated to him: is it only about happiness and, or also about love?
Happiness is the joy of receiving, love is the joy of giving. Getting for yourself is understandable, and thinking about something else and giving it to someone else is more difficult, that’s why everyone wants happiness, but far from everyone understands the value of love.
The same situation with happiness and the meaning of life. I want to wish everyone happiness, but happiness is not for everyone the meaning of life. In the modern culture of the consumer society, the right of everyone to happiness is told already to children, and that life can and should be meaningful, should be "why", not even the majority of adults have heard.
The meaning of life is that for which the individual lives his life, this is the answer to the question "Why do I live?". And how many of us have those who are in good health ask such a question? The vision of the meaning of life is a vision of the future, a vision of the future, for the sake of which it is worth living. If happiness is enough to feel, then you need to think about the meaning of life. Well, are there many people who are inclined to think? If people do not teach this specifically, few people think about the future. Moreover, the shaft of psychological literature today teaches us to live by feelings, not by the head, and to live only "here and now" without thinking about some future ... As a result, about any "meaning of life" so educated people do not already think they want, and the theme of the meaning of life excites, it seems, only neurotics, whose life does not develop...
Happiness and the meaning of life are quite different things. A person can have happiness in life, but not in the life of meaning. And vice versa - there is a sense, but there is no happiness.
A person can be situationally happy (he slept, ate, swam a lot or tasted deliciously), but to live without the meaning of life, not to have the joy of the meaning of life. The other at this time is in a state of tension and tension, but he sees for what it’s all - and wakes up every day with joy, because he knows why he lives. "He who knows Why, will stand any As" - wrote Nietzsche.
If life is like a route, then the meaning of life is one of its directions, and happiness is one of the ways of traveling along this route. Someone in their life chooses the direction is not the meaning of life, but other values - entertainment or prosperity, health or acute experiences ... A large number of our fellow citizens do not bother at all with the direction of their lives, considering that the satisfaction of their needs is quite sufficient, and those who has not learned to live happily, can put happiness in the meaning of his life...
In this case, happiness itself is not the goal and the meaning of life. More precisely, it may or may not be: everything depends on the type of person, views and motives of a person. If all your happiness - to tear off the wallpaper and put the shoes in a row, it seems that such happiness is unworthy of an adult.
For an Orthodox person, happiness as a delight in the pleasures of the modern world is not the meaning of life, but diabolical seduction. The meaning of his life is the approach to God, the salvation of the soul. We can say that the happiness of an orthodox person is in the service of God, but thoughts about happiness in principle for Orthodoxy are not characteristic. It is important to remember that for any Christian, depression is one of the worst sins.
For an active person, happiness is a resource and an instrument. An active person helps happiness when it becomes a habitual background and source of energy. Happiness hinders when it distracts from deeds.
Academician Lyubishchev, summarizing the year, once wrote: "This year I did little, I was happy." Behind these words one hears either meditation or sadness.
For the processor, happiness can be the goal and meaning of life, it is its values. The result is more important to the resultant, and the experience and happiness in the second turn. Look Happiness and personality types
Napoleon, looking back at his life, counted in her only four happy days. So what? He needed France, he wanted to give France freedom, reasonable laws, an efficient economy - and this was more important to him than his personal experiences. Big people do not pay too much attention to their emotions. And the results are paid attention to. This is important for them.
In Syntone approach, happiness is not a goal, but only a way of life for an intelligent person. This is the natural background of life that does not come to us (when approaching the goals), and which we ourselves create with simple keys and mechanisms. We do it - or we do not. And sometimes it does not have to be done if the positive starts to contradict more important goals and values. In a real, right life, no one promises you complete and absolute happiness, you will often experience both shortages and shortages. You will feel it. When you absolutely will not miss a lifetime, when you all the body will feel that you desperately need three lives in sequence and at least two in parallel, when every day for you scary short - you have the right life!
