Psychological health is the optimal functioning of all mental structures necessary for current life activity. Psychological health is not only spiritual, but also personal health. This state, when mental health is combined with the personal, the person is all light and classy and at the same time he is in a state of personal growth and readiness for such growth. A psychologically healthy person is intelligent, open to cooperation, protected from the blows of life and armed with the necessary tools to cope with life’s challenges.
Psychologically healthy person, see → differs from a person psychologically problematic, see →. They have different behavior (primarily social behavior) and a different personality structure.
Psychological health describes the personality as a whole, has to do with the emotional, motivational, cognitive and volitional spheres, as well as the manifestation of the human spirit.
The main criteria of psychological health: an adequate perception of the environment, a conscious commitment of actions, activity, efficiency, purposefulness, the ability to establish close contacts, a full family life, a sense of attachment and responsibility towards close people, the ability to make and implement their life plan, orientation to self-development , the integrity of the individual. A psychologically healthy person is intelligent, open to cooperation, protected from the blows of life and armed with the necessary tools to cope with life’s challenges.
But neurotics, psychopaths and sociopaths are beyond psychological health. People with the basic bouquet of internal psychological problems: aggressiveness, alcoholism, affection, internal saboteur, people in grief and depression, lovers of living in the position of Victims or inclined to play Durik, suffering from this or that burnout, psycho traumas and fears, tormented by guilt and an internal crisis ... A psychologically troubled person is little intelligent, inclined to hostility, not protected from life’s blows and does not have enough tools to cope with life’s challenges.
A. Maslow on psychological health
Psychological health not only fills a person with a subjective sense of well-being, it is in itself correct, true and real. It is in this sense that it is "better" than the disease and "above" it. It is not only right and true, but also more truthful, for a healthy person is able to see more truth, and a higher truth. Lack of psychological health not only depresses a person, but it can be regarded as a kind of blindness, cognitive pathology, as well as a form of moral and emotional inferiority. Illness is always defective, weakening or losing the capacity for activity and self-fulfillment.
Healthy people are few, but they are. We have already shown that health with all its values - truth, virtue, beauty - is possible, and, therefore, quite realistic and achievable. If a person wants to be sighted, not blind, wants to feel good, and not bad, prefers integrity - defective, we can say that he is seeking psychological health. I remember a girl who answered the question: "Why is good better than evil?" Replied: "Because it is better." Following the same logic of reasoning, we can say that it is "better" to live in a "good society" (in a fraternal, synergistic, confidential, built in accordance with the Theory of the Yrek) than in a society governed by the law of the jungle (authoritarian, evil. constructed in accordance with the Theory of X) - better both from the biological, medical, Darwinian point of view, and from the point of view of "dehumanization", both subjectively and objectively. The same is true for a good marriage, good friendship, good parenting relationships. Such attitudes are not only desirable (a person gives them preference, aspires to them), but in a certain sense "desirable". I understand that in such a statement of the question there can be a serious problem for professional philosophers, but I am sure they will cope with it.
The fact that a person can be good, healthy, and that such people exist - even if they are few and stapled from the same test as the rest - already in itself inspires us with courage, hope, determination and faith in man and his growth opportunities. This belief in the possibility of human nature, even the most timid, will push us to build a society based on the principles of brotherly love and compassion.
