Awareness

A man in the dark can not see much, he is confused, mistaken and does not understand. When a person does not know how or is not accustomed to living consciously, he lives as if in the dark, gets mixed up in his plans and intentions, impulsively starts a relationship and as unexpectedly for himself he throws, diverts himself in matters, acts unconsciously, does not notice what and how he does and does not feel his own state.

Awareness as a way of life - the ability, ability and habit to accompany the consciousness of their actual states, their actions, their activities, the course of their lives. Awareness is the result of the inclusion of consciousness in what is happening. Conscious - illuminated by the light of consciousness, something that has been paid enough attention: attention sufficient for necessary distinctions and, possibly, solutions and conclusions. Conscious is what we see and can remember later, describe as seen.

Conscious is an alternative to what we do not realize: unconscious.

The unconscious is what happens without the participation of consciousness. Unconscious mental processes are that which occurs naturally in a person or a person, naturally, without conscious control and does not require additional conscious efforts.

When a person "does not see, does not understand, does not understand, is distracted, carried away, acts unconsciously" - this is all description of unconscious behavior. He objected - but did not notice it. Raised his voice - and was surprised when he was pointed to it. I was engaged in one, after some time I realized that I was already doing something completely different ... Most people spent most of their life in an unconscious state. They live without regaining consciousness.

From the diary of Leo Tolstoy, entry 1 March, 1897:

"I wiped the dust in the room, and circled around, went to the sofa, and could not remember whether I wiped it or not. Since these movements are familiar and unconscious, I felt that it was impossible to remember. So, if I wiped it and forgot it, that is, I acted unconsciously, it’s like it was not. If anyone who has seen, he could be restored. If no one has seen or seen, but unconsciously; if the whole life of many passes unconsciously, then this life, as it were, was not."

The simplest and clearest metaphor of awareness is the clear light of consciousness and the presence of an intelligent observer. If there is an intelligent observer, but the state of consciousness is twilight (tired), then awareness is not high. If the brain

is alert, the child has a clear head, but he constantly turns (awl in the pope), then the attentive observer is absent. If the head is clear, the observer is attentive, but the culture and knowledge of a person is small, then awareness will be of low level.

In Syntone approach, awareness is the sum of perception, attention, thinking and memory, the result of their cohesive teamwork. If a person’s attention was walking away from what he said or did, there was no awareness in his words or actions. If a person, speaking or doing something, did not think, did not compare it with his intentions and goals, with a view of what was due, did not qualify it in any way, did not analyze and did not comprehend - awareness was absent. If a person acts in unconsciousness, he does not remember anything about what he said or did, nor about awareness.

Strictly speaking, awareness can not be accompanied by arbitrariness, the ability to somehow influence what is happening, but more often, when talking about awareness, people have in mind just the opportunity to interfere in what we are aware of, whether they are conscious actions, conscious breathing, conscious thoughts, conscious emotions or lucid dreams. Thus, for the purposes of practice, awareness can be understood as a joint, teamwork of all mental functions. The quality and level of awareness is determined both by the development of each of these functions, and by the coherence of their work.

How awareness develops in children

At least some children have been consciously controlling their parents and other adults since the beginning of the year.

From early memories of people about his childhood, the story: "I remember, I was about a year old, I’m lying in bed, grandfather comes in, and smiles at me, wants me to smile, too. I loved Grandfather and treated him well. I played with him and smiled at him. And I did not like my grandmother much, she did not smile, and often cried to her face. "

Usually, children develop their awareness more quickly in the activities that they are leading. If the boy is engaged in the football section, with the help of the coach, he will very consciously drive the ball and play combinations at the gate. If a girl studies dances or studies in a model school, she will move very consciously in the dance hall or on the podium.

Development of awareness

Consciousness can be developed, awareness can not be developed. In this paradox, it is said that the development of mindfulness is not one definite process with a definite completion, but a branching infinite path, the following stages of which open only to those who have already passed its part. The phrase of Socrates: "The more I know, the more I understand how little I know" is fully applicable to awareness: the more a person begins to live consciously, the more he begins to understand how many are still unconscious in his life.

Nevertheless, a person with a well-developed awareness is easy to distinguish from a person living unconsciously, and develop awareness - it is possible and necessary. See →
