NDE: what people see in clinical death

If you believe that the soul, leaving the body, makes a "cursory review of life" and "sees light at the end of the tunnel," then you will be interested to find out what specialists think about it. How do specialists look at NDE: near-death experience, experiences with clinical death?

First. People in the dying state or those who thought they were dying, in the event of a return to life, usually can not boast that they "saw" or "felt" something. At best, this is reported by one in ten, and usually these are people "aware" who somehow heard about what "happens" at death.

The second. Conditions similar to NDE, often occur in people in situations not related to clinical death. Such conditions are experienced, for example, by fighter pilots, when the aircraft unexpectedly enters into a peak and undergoes rapid acceleration. Drug use (hashish, LSD or DMT) gives rise to psychosis and similar experiences.

Third. NDE is easy to cause by neurophysiological interference in the human brain. All the abovementioned experiences in a person confidently arise with electrical stimulation of the temporal lobe in the transition to the hippocampus, a high level of carbon dioxide (hypercapnia), a decrease in the perfusion of the brain as a result of local hypoxia of the brain. Actually, the latter is analogous to the effect of rapid acceleration during the training of fighter pilots. It is interesting to note that when such visions in a person occur during a regular operation, there are no "existential changes" in people: the understanding of life does not change, the fear of death does not disappear...

Fourth: ketamine. Ketamine is widely used in surgical operations as a cheap and relatively safe anesthetic and short-acting analgesic. The patient who has been injected with ketamine experiences such a strong alienation and detachment from his body that he can perform an operation without anesthesia. But under the ketamine, the patient, as bewitched, easily sees himself from the side, above the operating table, he has memories from the past, he easily discerns the light at the end of the black tunnel, hears strange enchanting sounds and survives ecstasy when communicating with God ... Well, yes, ketamine, although not an opioid, but similarly to LSD and mescaline blocks NMDA receptors along with endorphin, serotonin and enkephalin. However, if a patient along with ketamine inject sedatives, the patient calmly loses consciousness and no longer suffers any mysticism.

Fifth: check everything. Professor of the University of Northern Texas Dr. Jan Holden during a surgery on the ceiling, directly above the patient’s head, attaches a laptop. As soon as the patient is cut off, a series of memorable images begins on the laptop screen, which her husband designed specifically for this experiment. If the patient after the operation will tell you that his soul flew out of the body, flew around the operating room and saw everything from the side, then she probably will see bright, capturing pictures on the laptop screen. These experiments have been going on for many years, they involve several doctors, but so far, unfortunately, there are no interesting results...
